"Return of the Maverick

After the disappointment of Mrs McKay's second novel she is back on the right track with this compelling story in the delightful setting of a New Zealand country town among the vineyards.

Written with humour and realistic medical content you find yourself rooting for the fascinating Brad and down-to-earth Erin who both have major disappointments in their past.

An excellent read.

Nine out of ten.

It Started with a Pregnancy

Personally I don't feel comfortable with a plot where the heroine falls pregnant as a result of a one-night stand and it is only by good fortune she has further contact with the father of the baby.

I also thought it was too heavy with medical detail which was quite depressing.

Cooper was a tantalisingly sexy doctor who deserved the best but Melissa came across as superficial and a bit self-centred.

I couldn't really say I enjoyed this story.

Four out of ten."

Wonderful!

Scarlet Wilson took on an incredibly emotional subject and did it with such skill that her debut book was never about the tragedy that occurred in the hero's past but more about his healing from pain and the hope that he and the heroine had for their future.

I turned the pages faster and faster to get to the end and see how these two were ever going to let their previous experiences stay in the past and move forward together with their baby.

I also thought the ending of the book was particularly well done as the author wrapped up the threads introduced during the book and focussed on the couple and their relationship with the baby taking a "back seat" as it were which is exactly how a successful romance should be :-)

My sister has diabetes and I will most definitely be recommending this book to her (as well as the rest of my friends!!) as this subject matter is skilfully and thoughtfully woven into the romance.

Can't wait for the next one!!"

"Wow! These two books were an excellent read, I raced through both of them in record time.

I must say that I adore the way these authors skillfully weave both a plot and a relationship around solid medical detail. After all, isn't that what makes a medical a medical romance?

I love Sue MacKay's New Zealand set books and Scarlet Wilson has penned an amazing debut, am looking forward to her next title."
